- FAQs for Darrell Saul Farms -

.)Where are you located? *We are located on Hwy 11 and are 6 miles south of Des Arc, Arkansas. If you are traveling on the interstate, you would need to get off on Exit 193 and drive north for 10 miles. We are on the right. We are just a short drive away from Little Rock, AR.

.)Can I stop in an get some bait before I go fishing? *Because we handle mostly large production and are a wholesale business, our minimum amount of baitfish you can purchase is 20lbs. or 200lbs for foodfish.

.) How many and what species of feeder fish would I need to feed my bass in my 10 acre pond? * Since the pond is quite small and bass are very aggressive feeders, you would need 50 to 100 lbs. per week to get the best growth for your fish. Fathead minnows or golden shiners would be the optimal feeder fish for your bass.

.)What are the advantages of fishing with Saul Minnows? *We take tremendous pride in ensuring that our bait will outlast the rest of our competitors. We cull "potguts," "tadpoles," and have done an effective job in ridding anchorworms and fungus from our fish.

.)Where can you ship to? *We can ship to anywhere in North America, however the load and distance will make a difference on shipping cost. For pricing, please contact!

.)How do You hatch minnows? *Our minnows are hatched in our covered facility. It usually takes a week to ten days for the minnows to hatch from the eggs that were collected on moss material, called mats, from our brooder fish ponds.

.)How do you harvest minnows? *We take giant nets or sains and designate an area in the pond around bait or running water, then we pull the sain from both ends around the designated area and meet in the middle. We can harvest as much as 2,000lbs. in one sain.

.)What is the best method to keep my baitfish alive? *Baitfish can be very difficult to keep alive and especially in the hot summer months. The best method is to keep them cool and make sure that you have oxygen in the water.

.)How can I get oxygen in my water? *The best way is through the use of liquid oxygen, however a simple aerator will also provide a sufficient amount of oxygen.

.)What do I need to feed the fish once they arrive? *Minnows and other baitfish can live for months before eating. They should be on the end of a hook by that time.
